WHY ARE 406MHz PLBS NO GOOD FOR MOB SAFETY COVER/AUTO-ALERT & LOCATE?

EGYPT - RED SEA DIVING

As a result of extensive sea trials which took place in Feb 2010 with the Egyptian Dive Authorities and Marine Rescue Technologies ltd. we are pleased to announce that the Sea Marshall® lost diver locating system (121.5MHz frequency) is now approved for use by Red Sea Divers. The sea trials clearly demonstrated the high effectiveness of the system with the SARfinder® ALARM/HOMING UNIT located on the dive boat accurately tracking the AU9'500mW' personal locator beacon from distances over 12km.

One major advantage of the Sea Marshall® system over other systems is the combination of the PLB within an SMB which allowed the 'SOS' alarm to be triggered on the dive boat even when divers are on the sea bed...this facility can mean the difference between life and death if an accident occurs on the sea bead the alarm can be raised many minutes before the diver reaches the surface. It also reduces the amount of seaparate equipment carried on a dive by combining your PLB with your SMB.

The Sea Marshall® SARfinder® Base Unit receiver fitted to the boat is a high quality dedicated professional level Monitor/Alarm/Tracking BASE UNIT.

The SARfinder® is fully automatic, immediately raising the alarm with seconds of an 'SOS' signal being received...a very loud alarm sounds and all the hyperbright LEDs on the display flash ON & OFF until a crewmember presses the RESET/TRACKING button...the system automatically plots the GPS position of the dive boat on the ships chart plotter... the SARfinder® will then immediately display the direction of the 'SOS' signal/Diver in distress... on its easy to read compass style LED display. The SARfinder® is permantently installed to provide immediate tracking, it requires no headphones or the operator to wave an antenna around in the hope of picking up a signal.

PLEASE NOTE - the tracking ranges listed are taken from tests where the receiver antenna has been correctly installed at the recommended height with the AU9 correctly installed in either an SMB for divers or lifejacket, with antenna clip for normal use. The SMB gave the maximum range listed as achieved during tests, the lifejacket AU9 installation gave the lower end of the ranges listed. Wearing the AU9 around the neck will reduce the tracking/alerting ranges to below the ranges listed here in.
